One of the greatest Christmas songs (and there are many that I love) would have to be the good ol’ “God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman” and probably because of its perfect English melody. And if you didn’t already know, it is one of the oldest Christmas songs ever as it dates way back into the 16th century or something like that.
While I don’t favour singers covering Christmas songs because they often like to put too much of their own touch into the songs, this one by Hozier has totally got me hooked.
The “Take Me To Church” singer was recently on his BBC Radio 1 session, when he covered the Christmas favourite and just as expected, the Irish singer gave the song a little bit of a flair with his haunting voice. Check out the cover below:
