Melissa is paying a great homage to the city of Rio de Janeiro, to the culture of neighborhoods, to the beach and the lifestyle of this very musical city, which is at the same time solar and bohemian. The city teaches us to be happy, leading life in a manner that is simple and light.
In the Melissa Wanna Be Carioca collection, the brand honors the special manner of the cariocas and values the nostalgia of the past with increasing modernization; this mixture of sand and asphalt, represented in the people that leave the beach, and with the same savoir-faire, go out to dance at the clubs. Melissa’s values come to life in Rio de Janeiro: joy, optimism, irreverence, a positive attitude in relation to life, (the smile as an icon), and the search for a better city (world).
Even with all the problems of every big city, Rio manages to be a more human metropolitan point, where all appreciate the sunset and orchids and trees decorate the streets. And everyone is mixed in together. In this surprising big city in which life pulses strongly on the streets, tradition has an opened dialogue with modernity. And everyone is connected.
Wanna Be Carioca is very colorful, with a color pallet that goes from neon pink, yellow, blue, green and red, to the classical white, black and brown. A new model signed by Jason Wu, Melissa Charlotte + Jason Wu, an asymmetrical flat which plays with the natural curves of the wonderful city, will be presented. New shapes by Vivienne Westwood, J. Maskrey and Salinas will also appear.
The Flox family will grow in this collection, with the launch of an item with a platform sole – it has everything to do with the flat form trend; the Melissa Wanna Be Rio, mixes the orientalism present in the sole with a light platform, with an opened oxford. This shoe can go to every corner of the city. Melissa Wonderfull, another shoe, makes a game out of modernism and art deco of Rio de Janeiro, mixing straight lines with golden details, which give a special charm to the new Melissa.
