It’s not always that you get to hear of a halal certified premium beauty label that utilises precious herbs sourced locally in Malaysia in its products. Hence, I was very intrigued when I first got to know about Forest Colour.
Drawing inspiration from age old beauty secrets and the rich biodiversity of Malaysian rainforests, Forest Colour offers green beauty products for those of all walks of life. Best of all, the products go through stringent product development, and they are scientifically handcrafted to suit different skin types, even if you’ve got sensitive skin.
Just recently, I gave some products by Forest Colour a whirl, and so far, I’m impressed! With the products provided to me, I was able to create a sweet and romantic smoky eye look that’s ideal for a night out with girlfriends, or when going on a date.
Here’s my before and after! If you want to learn how to get this look, there’s a tutorial for you down below. 🙂
After moisturising my face and applying a primer (Moonshot’s Multi Protection UV Bouncer SPF50+ PA+++), I took a pea-sized amount of Forest Colour’s All-In-One Collagen Perfecting Foundation SPF 25 PA++ in the shade FC401 (Buff Light) and stippled the product onto my face using a damp BeautyBlender.
Formulated with aloe vera and collagen, this foundation looks very thick and feels grainy once it’s squeezed out of the tube. To be honest, it turned me off instantly, but surprisingly, it blends very well and applies smoothly on the skin. It feels comfortably lightweight, provides a light to medium coverage and leaves a beautiful satin finish.
I then set my hard work using Forest Colour’s All-In-One Collagen Loose Powder in the shade FC201 (Crystalline Beige). Even though the product comes with a powder puff, I prefer dusting the loose powder over my face with a brush. I used elf’s Studio Powder Brush and the loose powder leaves the skin matte without looking cakey.
I didn’t have a bronzer or blush from Forest Colour on hand, so I used Bourjois’ Bronzing Powder + Highlighter duo and Tarte’s Amazonian Clay 12-hour Blush in Exposed for a flush of colour on my cheeks. To apply, I used Sigma’s F40 Large Angled Contour brush, and Sigma’s F50 Duo Fibre brush.
For the eyebrows, I used Forest Colour’s Natural Styling Eyebrow Pencil in the shade Dark Grey. Its triangular tip is very easy to work with, and I like that the pencil has a spoolie on the other end for me to brush my crazy eyebrows with.
For the eyes, I used Forest Colour’s Collagen Lush Eye Colour quad in Rose Amethyst. First, I dusted the shimmery white colour all over the eyes, close to the brow bone. Then, I took the shimmery pink eyeshadow and pat it closer to the mobile lid, focusing the product on the centre of the lids and towards the inner corners. I used Sigma’s F70 Concealer brush for this.
The eyeshadow quad has four shimmery colours, and even though the colours are pigmented, the eyeshadow can be a little chalky. Having said that, the eyeshadow looks gorgeous once it’s blended in. Do also note that there is a little amount of chunky glitter in the eyeshadows.
To create a smooth transition of colour, I took Sigma’s E40 Tapered Blending Brush to blend the harsh edges away. With Sigma’s F70 Concealer brush again, I picked up the cranberry shade in the quad and placed the product on the outer ‘V’ of the eyes, making sure to blend everything nicely.
Using the same brush, I picked up the dark purple shade in the quad and run it along my lower lash line for some balance and drama. I made sure to smoke it out by running the brush back and forth.
With the same shade and Sigma’s E65 Small Angle brush, I lined my upper lash line to create the illusion of having thicker eyelashes, and smoked that out too. I also created a little feline flick with the eyeshadow for some added glamour.
To finish off the eyes, I used Clinique’s Chubby Lash mascara and layered it with Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara.
For the lips, I used Forest Colour’s Collagen Velvety Lip Colour in the shade Rosewood Choco and topped that off with Forest Colour’s Collagen Crystalline Lip Gloss in the shade FC802 (Silky Peony). I adore this lipstick as it is extremely creamy and feels lovely when applied on the lips. On the other hand, the lip gloss provides a nice sheen without a tacky feeling.
Finally, I added a little bit of highlighter with Bobbi Brown’s Shimmer Brick in Pink on the highest points of my face – tip and bridge of the nose, cupid’s bow, on top of the cheekbones, and below the brow bone. For this, I used Sigma’s E70 Medium Angled Shading brush.
After playing around with these products for a few weeks, I’d say that I’m now a fan of Forest Colour. The brand’s makeup lasts really well on my skin, doesn’t break me out, and doesn’t fade funny midday. My favourite products that I’ve tried include the Collagen Velvety Lip Colour that comes in a wide array of shades, and the All-In-One Collagen Perfecting Foundation SPF 25 PA++.
If you’re a fragrance kind of girl, Forest Colour also has wonderful Eau de Parfum selections. We’re currently in love with the EDP 10ml x 4 kit that has four different scents – Citrine, Diamond, Amethyst and Larimar. 😀
