Malaysia’s longest running annual jazz festival, Penang Island Jazz Festival is back this year and will be celebrating their 12th edition from the 3rd of December to the 6th of December.
The festival’s main stage theme will be “Jazz By The Beach” and will feature a wide variety of musical styles from Makiko Hirabayashi Trio, Nina & The Butterfly Fish, Derek Brown BEATBoX SAX and so many more.
Apart from the main stage, there will be other musical activities including an Opening Concert, “An Acoustic Evening” at Love Lane on Thursday, 3rd December. Specialised workshops will also be conducted throughout the weekend by participating artists and more.
Festivalgoers will be able to enjoy the jazz gallery with poster exhibitions such as “The Visual Arts of Copenhagen Jazz Festival” and “Just For The Love of It – Penang’s Popular Music”. There will be talks and musicals to be followed by this as well. Attendees of the festival will also be able to watch Malaysian acts through the “The Creative Malaysia Fringe” programme and “Sunrise @ Tropical Garden” event.
There will also be a The Penang Island Jazz Festival “after party” which will be taking place at the Laundry Bar @ Curve on Wednesday the 9th of December.
