Uber lovers, it’s time for us to come together and save our favourite ride-sharing app.
Since the imminent crackdown by Road Transport Department (JPJ) on October 1 has been getting a lot of hype, Uber is defending themselves with the help of Malaysians, which hopefully will get the authorities to allow it to stay in business.
A post was very recently published on Uber’s official blog and was written by Chan Park, the company’s head of expansion in the Asia Pacific region, excluding China. In the post, Uber encourages Malaysians to fight for the ability to choose their own mode of transport. It was also said that Uber is appealing to the authorities, which includes JPJ and the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) to chill on their crackdown because Uber is complying with Malaysian law.
Park also points out that a lot of Malaysians choose Uber as their go-to choice when it comes to transportation. It was also said that the traditional taxi services need to change instead of being protected from new businesses like Uber.
So, if you want to save Malaysia’s favourite ride-sharing app, show your support by signing this petition here. You can also fight for Uber by spreading the hashtag #ChooseUberMy on your social networks, which hopefully will catch the officials’ attention.
We hope Uber is here to stay because we deserve the right to choose and the comfort of being safe.
