For the 2015 MTV EMAs, MTV worked with Instagram to host a custom booth backstage at the main event. With Boomerang, music and Internet stars Instagrammed images and Boomerang-style videos throughout the event. MTV also debuted MTV Canvas, a new tool on MTVbump.com that allows the audience to play with pop culture and create or submit spots to possibly be run on air.
Boomerang, a new app launched by Instagram, takes a burst of photos and stitches them together into a mini video that plays forward and back. Press a button and the app does the rest with no login required. During the MTV EMAs, the backstage booth formed of a semi-circle of LED screens generated live action Booms.
Snapchat also covered the event through a MTV EMA Live Story and provided custom MTV EMA geofilters for those who attended the show. On top of that, MTV featured exclusive EMA content from the red carpet, main show and backstage on its international Snapchat Discover channel. This live content and backstage moments were also shared via Periscope.
MTV Canvas is a fun and exciting new tool that allows users the freedom to create and play with the brand as well as pop culture, making their own visual art with music, backdrops and more. Found on MTVbump.com, users can share their Canvas video spots on Facebook or Twitter, and submit them to run on-air on MTV. Videos that are selected will be featured alongside the #MTVBump content on the site.
#MTVBump connects the world to MTV’s linear broadcast system, allowing social media videos with the hashtag #MTVBump to be up on-air in as little as two hours. On MTVbump.com, fans can view all the bumps made worldwide and #MTVBump airs nearly 1,200 times a day worldwide.
The 2015 MTV EMAs broadcasted live on 26 October 2015 at 4am. Kindly check out the official website for the 2015 MTV EMAs for more details and to watch highlights from the big event.
