Analog microblogging? You’re kidding, right?

Rotary phones are always a hit with vintage lovers. They don’t necessarily have to work, they just need to be ancient enough to be called, “vintage” and their main functionality is to just sit around and, well, sit around.

But why go through hell and high water just to find a phone that doesn’t do anything aside from collect dust when you can now tweet from it? What? We’re not kidding!

The “Tweephone” by UP digital bureau and Unteleported tech agency is apparently the world’s first analog Twitter client, which basically means that it’s a vintage phone that has all its original hardware, but allows you to punch in messages by pulling the dial (read: completely non-digital means). It works by dialing a number twice to get a letter on (e.g. dial “2” three times go get a “c”).

What hard labour! So uh, don’t expect to fill up all 140 characters in a tweet as well or as fast as you would do on a standard QWERTY keyboard.

Well, it could either be a hit or a miss. But it’s still pretty neat considering the fact that it looks exactly like a vintage rotary phone. Hipsters will definitely love this one! Just make sure you keep it out of the elderly’s reach or you could very well end up with super confused grandparents.
