If you liked “Desperate Housewives”, you might like the next big drama series that’s just about to air in Malaysia. It’s okay, you can admit to secretly watching “Desperate Housewives”. We won’t tell.
Anyway, as we were saying, from Emmy Award-nominated producers, Peter Berg and Alexandra Cunningham comes the crime drama, “Prime Suspect”. The crime drama takes you inside the tough New York precinct (that is mostly dominated by men) and on a personal tour around its homicide department.
If you’ve ever heard that New York is one of the world’s cities with the highest crime rate and statistics, then you can already imagine what “Prime Suspect” is about to show you. And you would know that only a tough-as-nails New York Police Department (NYPD) Detective can take on the role. But what if we told you that the said detective is a woman?
She is focused, she is confident, but Detective Jane Timoney (played by Maria Bello of “Coyote Ugly”) is an outsider who has just transferred to a new squad where her NYPD colleagues already dislike her. Perhaps it’s due to her rude, abrupt, and occasionally reckless traits, on top of the rumours of her questionable past. But in essence, she’s an instinctively brilliant cop who can’t be distracted from the only important thing – the prime suspect:
Also starring are Aiden Quinn (Unknown) as Lt. Kevin Sweeney, Brian F. O’Byrne (Flash Forward) as Det. Reg Duffy, Tim Griffin (Star Trek) as Det. Augie Blando, Kirk Acevedo (Fringe) as Det. Luisito Calderon, Damon Gupton (The Last Airbender) as Det. Evrard Velerio and Peter Gerety (Blue Bloods) as Jane’s father, Desmond Timoney.
Sounds like an all-men cast! Almost like a reversed “thorn amongst the roses”. So, can she “make her bones” in an attempt to prove herself? You think? Find out when “Prime Suspect” premieres tomorrow, 3rd November 2011, at 11pm exclusively on DIVA Universal (Channel 702 on Astro).
