After a long day, it’s always nice to lay in bed all fresh and clean as you end the day. After all, getting ready for bed means you’re prepping yourself for a beautiful tomorrow. Beauty isn’t only on the outside, but also how you feel on the inside. For that reason, we urge you to take the time to de-stress and relax after each day. Here are five things you should remember for your bedtime beauty regime:
1. Remove your makeup properly
You can’t simply choose to ignore the balance of makeup left on your face, especially the eyes. Do you use a waterproof eyeliner and mascara so it will last all day? If yes, then you have to take some time to remove it properly. Leaving the residue of mascara or eyeliner can cause eye irritation and we highly doubt you’ll want to make an entrance with swollen or red eyes the next day. Like the rest of your face, allow your eyes to rest properly. If you can’t get close enough due to the soap then use a cotton swap.
2. Wash your makeup off along the hairline
Removing your makeup is simple but people don’t stress enough importance on removing your makeup along the hairline. Leaving your makeup to pile up along your hairline only causes scalp irritation and even dryness on your scalp. This causes your scalp to start flaking and trust me, that’s not a pleasant view.
3. Double cleanse
Use a makeup remover that has cleansing properties in it. But using it alone is not enough. Follow up with another cleanser that is preferred to your skin type, finish it up with a toner and most importantly your moisturizer.
4. Avoid moisturisers with SPF
Never ever, ever use a sunscreen moisturizer at night. You spend the day with multiple layers of products on your face and now the least you can do is to give your face a break. So, let your skin relax while you rest with a lighter moisturizer when it’s in repair mode. And for the most obvious reason of all, your face does not need the protection while you’re in bed.
5. Use a humidifier
Sleep in an air-conditioned room? If you do, then you’re probably leaving your skin bare to dehydrate. Having a humidifier will aid you in having fresh and hydrated skin in the morning. Undo some of the damage by turning your humidifier on or place a bowl of water by your bedside as a humidifier. It’s as simple as that!
