Obviously, Kris couldn’t keep up with a Kardashian

Nicolas Cage and Lisa Marie Presley, divorced after three months of marriage. Pamela Anderson and Kid Rock, divorced after five months of marriage. And who can forget Britney Spears and Jason Alexander, annulled after merely 55 hours.

The above are just some of the extremely disbelief-inducing marriages that were highly publicized. Nevermind that they got married in the first place. And today, joining the league of marriages that didn’t last long is none other than bootylicious reality TV star, Kim Kardashian.

It was only two months ago that Kim said “I do” to her 6ft9 NBA star fiancé, Kris Humphries, in a Vera Wang creation and a staggering USD10million worth of jewellery (her earrings alone were worth USD5million). It was said to be Kim’s fairytale wedding, where she tied the knot in front of 450 guests including Ryan Seacrest, Lindsay Lohan, Eva Longoria, Mel B, Venus and Serena Williams, Avril Lavigne, and Demi Lovato:

It was a wedding people won’t soon forget. “Stunning beauty”, they said. But you know what they say, that all that shimmers in this world is sure to fade away again. The same can be said for Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries’ marriage.

And their fairytale wedding?

Forgotten.

Because fast forward to two months later, just weeks after the premiere of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians: Kim’s Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event” (a two-night special that reportedly drew an average of 4 million viewers), Kim announces that she’s filing for a divorce.

“I had hoped this marriage was forever but sometimes things don’t work out as planned”, she said in an official statement.

Some said that giving up a thriving career (Kris Humphries suggested that they both move to Minnesota after the wedding) did not appear to be on Kim’s to-do list while others commented that family discords (both of Kim’s sisters constantly attacked and insulted Kris) took a toll on their short-lived wedded bliss.

Our take? We’re not sure if this is just another publicity stunt for “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” but really, you give the kids too much money and this is what they do to/with their lives. Sanctity of marriage, anyone?
