We ventured into the unknown in search for grabs and steals last Saturday afternoon. It was a thoroughly scary experience as we shuffled about the large crowd that flocked towards discounts and pre-loved (read: vintage) items. Hands and eyes were kept busy on the lookout for “must have” items and some were even prepared to wrestle for it!
Okay, no, not really. We’re only kidding. But that doesn’t mean that “Markets @ Jaya One” was not a huge success this time around!
At 11am on the 29th of October 2011, we were more than ready to immerse in the fun-filled community, in the outdoor shopping expedition. And to be perfectly honest, we were afraid to overspend.
But even that seemed impossible because there were great buys (tops, dresses, shorts, accessories, bags) going for as cheap as RM20 right up to about RM80. Or at least the ones that we saw were that dirt cheap, such as the ones in bargain bins going for as low as RM5. I must admit that it does take some work to dig through them but hey, if you find something you like, then it’s worth it.
“Markets @ Jaya One” comprises of a lethal combination of some of the best shopping in Petaling Jaya, namely “Chic POP Street Market”, “Crafty Art Market”, and “Bettr Weekends”. Celebrating style, shopping, craft, wholesome goodness and barrel-loads of fun, there were offerings of things (and other random knick knacks) that we didn’t need, but want.
The damage? I personally ended up with a chiffon top (RM20), a black miniskirt (RM40), and a Korean-fashion-inspired black lace dress (RM40). Three items for only RM100? It screams, “STEAL”!
That aside, it was also a good time to just hang out and have coffee with good friends while people watching. And in the end, it felt like it was one of the most productive Saturdays ever.
Well, at least it sure beats suffering on the road all the way into a shopping mall, fighting for parking, and putting up with a pounding headache after dealing with a massive crowd. Right?
