Big news for PUMA fans: the PUMA Suede is making a comeback for Autumn-Winter ’15 and it’s going to be better than ever. The classic Suede will come in black-white with peacoat colourway, and black-on-black iteration. The PUMA suede has had a long run of setting the standards for footwear design ever since its birth in 1968.
The city scene back in the 60s were filled with chicks in hot pants and boys in basketball shorts. That was when PUMA first lit a fire under culture’s keister with the Suede silhouette. The industry rebel that said “nay” to ordinary leather, the Suede was a warm-up shoe made infamous by athletic greats such as basketball’s Walt “Clyde” Frazier and the track’s Tommie Smith.
The Suede grew even more popular during the 80s when b-boys and hip hot beats took over New York City and to this day continues to be one of the most epic icon of sport-inspired streetwear item.
Every single aspect of the PUMA Suede has been carefully considered, which clearly shows in the style and form of the shoe. The lace closure at mid-foot gives the shoe a very snug fit, and the suede uppers paired with perforated detailing gives the Suede a very smooth and sleek character. The grippy rubber outsole presents the shoe’s legacy on the basketball courts and running tracks.
The PUMA Suede is now available at all PUMA stores and is retailing at RM259
