Eddie Redmayne, who is known for his role in My Week With Marilyn and Les Misérables, portrays Lili Elbe, a 1900s transgender pioneer in the upcoming film The Danish Girl. The award-winning actor dons a curly red wig and shares a kiss with a man in the trailer that was released on 1st September. Lili looks like quite the elegant woman, to be honest.
Redmayne took three years to learn from members of the trans community to get into character for this emotional film, directed by Tom Hooper. Danish artist Einar Wegener, was one of the first people to undergo sex reassignment surgery.
This film shares the groundbreaking life and journey of Wegener changing to Elbe and her supportive wife, Gerda Wegener which is played by Swedish actress Alicia Vikander.
