Say hello to my new found favourite – Eyeko’s Skinny Brush Mascara!
To be honest, I really didn’t expect much out of this mascara because it’s meant for lengthening the lashes when I’m all about the volume. I’ve heard a lot about Eyeko in the past but I’ve never actually tried anything from the brand until this mascara, and man, I’m in LOVE.
Before we even talk about the formula of the mascara itself, let’s talk packaging. Isn’t this one of the most unique-looking mascara tubes ever?! Instead of a conventional hard plastic tube, this mascara comes in an adorable squeezy tube. Although the packaging doesn’t really affect the quality of the product, I was sold and I think that this is really smart.
Aside from that, something odd came together in the box – it was a guitar pick. At first I was really clueless as to why Eyeko would put that in their mascara boxes, but I figured it out later on. The guitar pick is supposed to help you shield your skin when applying mascara so it doesn’t run all over your lids and under your eyes. Genius!
Now, let’s talk about the wand. This is very different compared to what I’m used to as I tend to go for bigger and fatter wands. Some of my favourite mascaras are CoverGirl’s LashBlast Volume, Maybelline’s Volum’ Express The Rocket and Too Faced Better Than Sex, and they all have huge wands. This wand on the other hand is skinny, as the name of the product suggests, and it has dispersed bristles.
With only one coat, I was wowed when I first tried it out. It gave me instant length like no other and it also gave me the volume I was looking for. The skinny brush actually glides on the lashes very smoothly and easily, giving me more precision when applying my mascara. The colour is also very black, so it makes your lashes look thicker, more luscious and intense. It also holds a curl really well because of its waxy formula.
What I love most about the skinny wand is that applying mascara on my lower lashes is now a breeze! With bigger wands, I tend to have to clean up after with a Q-tip because huge wands smudge the mascara under my eye. I use this brush to separate my bottom lashes as well as apply the mascara and it doesn’t make a mess.
The staying power of this mascara is also worth a shout out. It doesn’t budge, smudge, crumble or flake throughout the day and lasts right until I remove it with makeup remover. Unlike most mascaras, removing this from your lashes would not give you panda eyes because it doesn’t melt off with makeup remover. Instead, the mascara slowly comes off in flakes.
I also found out that this mascara contains natural oils, pro-vitamin B and waxes to promote long-term lash care and increase growth as well as prevent breakage of the lashes. Win-win, right? This mascara is truly one of a kind and I reckon that everyone should try it.
