Harith Iskander, well known for his brilliant wit and quirky remarks, has made it to the grand finals of the Funniest Person in the World competition, organised by United State’s biggest global comedy chain, Laugh Factory. Wow!
In the game of microphones, the Johor born joker secured the spot in the grand finals alongside four equally hysterical comedians, namely Alex Calleja (Philippines), Mino Van Nassau (India), David Kilimnick (Israel) and Katerina Vrana (Greece) in the semi-finals show held in Helsinki, Finland last Tuesday–defeating 88 others from all over the world, including fellow Malaysian Dr Jason Leong in the first round.
As the winner selection is based through an online voting system, Harith Iskander thanked everyone who voted and supported him from round one to the semi-finals, adding that he’s doing it for the love of his country, in an effort to make us proud. He commented, “The goal is to fly the Malaysian flag on a world stage.”
The Grand Prize winner, and also the one who will be crowned as The Funniest Person in the World is going to receive a hefty cash of USD$100,000 (RM444,845), while those in second and third place will receive US$10,000 (RM44,484) and US$5,000 (RM22,242) respectively. The winner will be announced at the closing gala on Dec 10.
