Tiger Jams’ three-week voting period with over 100,000 votes has unveiled three of Malaysia’s best emerging artistes. They are home grown band Donamarie, Rozella and Son of a Policemen (SOAP).
These three bands emerged on top after garnering the most number of votes during the online polls held from 13 to 30 June, and they are one step closer to collaborating with a mystery international act!
Up next, the bands will each be paired with one acclaimed Asian act (either Singaporean pop band The Sam Willows, Hong Kong’s punk pop band ToNick or Malaysia’s very own Darren Ashley) and an established visual artist (Donald Abraham, Kenji Chai or Flex) to produce an original Tiger Jams track and music video.
This track with be the deciding factor for the mystery international act to handpick one of the three for a collaboration. The three finalists will also receive a cash prize of RM15,000 each!
Tiger Beer marketing manager Jessie Chuah said “We’re pleased that Asia took notice of Tiger Jams and is supportive of the local music scene, which brought to the forefront three of the country’s finest emerging talents to have their chance at being on a bigger stage. We hope that music lovers continue to see potential in local and Asian musicians because with proper backing, they can be as good as or even better than international acts.”
In August, these three bands will be hosting a gig each prior to the big finale event. Go support them!
