Three years after the erotica trilogy started being sold in Malaysia, the Home Ministry has now banned the controversial Fifty Shades of Grey books. Tbh, why now though.. after so long?!
The three books Fifty Shades of Grey, Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed, are now prohibited as they are likely to be “prejudicial to morality”, according to an order issued by the Home Ministry.
Apart from banning the sale of those books written by author E.L James, the importation, reproduction and possession of the books have also been prohibited.
The ban comes under the Printing Presses and Publications (Control of Undesirable Publications) Order 2015 and it’s dated February 24.
In February 2015, the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey was banned in Malaysia by the Film Censorship Board (LPF) as it reportedly featured unnatural and “sadistic” sex scenes.
