Yesterday at Universal’s CinemaCon panel in Las Vegas, Vin Diesel confirmed that Furious 8 would hit theatres on April 14, 2017.
Choking back some tears, Diesel told the crowd, “It means a lot to me to get your blessing.”
The star also recalled the time when Diesel and Paul Walker, the actor who tragically died in a 2013 car crash, talked about planning to move forward on a seventh film for the action franchise two years ago.
“We were giddy and excited,” said Diesel. “You all gave me so much confidence. There was so much love.”
For Furious 7, Paul Walker’s unfinished scenes were CGI-animated. Special effects technicians and stunt doubles enabled the completion of the movie.
Furious 7 has achieved $1.15 billion at the worldwide box office, making it No.7 on the list of highest-grossing films of all time.
