For the past 14 years, passengers who took the Express Rail Link (ERL) were required to pay RM35. However, Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd has just announced that the one-way trip fare between KL Sentral and KLIA/KLIA 2 will be increased by RM20 to RM55 beginning January 1 2016.
ERL Sdn Bhd insisted that this rate is discounted from RM64, which is the actual amount based on the terms of the concession agreement. Still, that’s an insane increase! 🙁
The company also notes that they are working with partners to offer discounts on the fares, citing that MasterCard users can purchase the one-way trip tickets for RM40, but did not state how long the discount duration is.
Buying the tickets online through the mobile app and from ERL kiosks can earn you 10% off. You could also use the Touch n’ Go card to save 10% during the promotional period, or save RM10 by purchasing return tickets between KL Sentral and the airports.
Additionally, a new 44-trip monthly TravelCard will be issued for daily commuters, and senior citizens as well as disabled persons can enjoy 30% off the fare.
