While most of the world is criticizing Miley Cyrus for churning out pornographic material on her latest video Wrecking Ball, Courtney Love stood up for the pro-twerker.
The former rocker and ex-girlfriend of the late Kurt Cobain said:
“I like Miley, frankly. I’m gonna be honest, Katy Perry bores the f**k out of me. She’s a nice girl, she just really bores me. You know, that hillbilly Miley Cyrus is a sort of punk in a weird sex way”.
Well, it’s not exactly a compliment, but it’s quite definitely laced with insult. She also went on to diss Robin Thicke, saying that he’s “like Jared Leto trying to convince me he’s a rock star”.
But on to Miley – in a recent interview with New York City’s Z100 radio station, Miley revealed the reason behind the nudity in Wrecking Ball. She explained that the nudity was a metaphor for how vulnerable she feels inside.
“I think the video is much more, if people get past the point that I’m naked and you actually look at me.
You can tell that I actually look more broken than even the song sounds.
The song is a pop ballad. It’s one of these songs that everyone is gonna to relate to, everyone’s felt that feeling at some point.
If people can take their minds off the obvious and go into their imagination a little bit and see kind of what the video really means and the way that it is so vulnerable
If you look in my eyes I look more sad than actually my voice sounds on the record. It was a lot harder to do the video than it was to even record the song. It was much more of an emotional experience.”
Let’s be frank – there’s been more videos out there with less nudity, but more crass suggestions. While Miley may be nude, it does look rather tasteful. Maybe except for the part where she licks the sledgehammer. That was awkward.
Wrecking Ball has already garnered over 70 million views on YouTube. Watch the entire video here:
