Three athletes of the Malaysian sports tournament Sukma, is in trouble after a fellow sportswoman lodged a police report, stating that she was allegedly gang-raped by them at a hostel over the weekend.
According to the police, the victim claimed that the sexual assault occurred in a room at the Sukma games village located at the University Putra Malaysia (UPM).
Three athletes and the 19-year-old victim, who are members of the Sukma handball team had apparently organized a party in the hostel before the attack.
According to sources, she was the only female among the 20 athletes who attended the gathering. Alcoholic drinks were allegedly consumed too.
It is learnt that hours into the party, the victim felt drowsy and the three athletes helped her into her took before the alleged assault took place.
Serdang deputy police chief DSP Lam Chin Fei said the three teenage youths were picked up at their hostel on Saturday and will be remanded until Wednesday. The athletes were aged 18 and 19.
The victim and the detained athletes have also been sent for a medical examination as part of the investigation. [Source]
