We at Lipstiq love getting crafty, especially when make-up’s concerned. Having go through a list of unattainable colors like black lipstick, all we can do is improvise with the number of tools we have to whip up a little piece of magic!
Just the other day, one of us started complaining about not being able to find blue lipgloss. Yes, a little odd, but when you’re so engrossed with alternative style, all you want is to have what you can’t have. So, with a little curiosity, experimentation and devilish smiles, we decided to create our own lip color, but to spice things up a bit, we’re going blue instead!
Here’s what you need:
Lip balm/Vaseline
Eyeshadow (We use Urban Decay for the great color intensity)
Eyeshadow brush
Lip brush
A small plastic container
Scoop some lip balm into the plastic container and dust some eyeshadow into the container. Then take the lip brush and mix. Improvise with the eyeshadow to get your consistency.
The consistency of the lip balm will determine the texture of your lip color. Because the lip balm we used was very lightweight and slightly watery, it felt more like a lip gloss than an actual lipstick. But we’re not unhappy!
It’s like an easy alternative to our favorite Urban Decay lipgloss in Oil Slick. Oil Slick is a black lip gloss that offers a sheer black tint to your lips without being opaque. If you’re looking to buy it, it’s unfortunately not available in Sephora Malaysia. But hey, with some eye shadow and lip balm, you can make it on your own!
If you make your own, don’t forget to Instagram or Tweet us the pictures!
