The Hero, Charles Ramsey
The police have recently exposed the report of the Cleveland kidnappings. The kidnapping of Michelle Knight, Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus was revived after ten years when a video interview with Charles Ramsey went viral over the internet.
While Ramsey also turned into a hero in a matter of hours, more horrifying truth about the three women’s kidnapping ended up being more intense.
It turns out, one of the kidnappers Ariel Castro, had impregnated Michelle Knight five times and forced her to have miscarriages by starving her and punching her in the stomach. According to the police report, Michelle was also forced to deliver the baby of Amanda Berry as Berry laid in a plastic baby pool to help contain “the mess”.
“Michelle stated that Ariel told her that if the baby died, that he’d kill her,” the report states.
The victims
It was alarming to the neighbors as to how Castro had kept the presence of the three women a secret for more than a decade. The report says that he kept them all chained up in the basement but eventually let them free from the chains to live upstairs on the second floor. If they were allowed outside, it was only the backyard and “they had to wear wigs and sunglasses and keep their heads down”.
The three victims have also exposed the story of how they were abducted. Knight said she was offered a ride home by Castro in August 2002, but he drover her back to this house where he chained her up in the basement.
The kidnappers, Ariel Castro in far right
In April 2003, Berry was walking home from Burger King when Castro offered her a ride home. Apparently, Castro told her that his son also worked at Burger King.
DeJesus told the police that Castro approached her with his daughter in April 2004. DeJesus and Castro’s daughter went to school together. But Castro returned to see DeJesus without his daughter. Much like the two girls, Castro drove her back to this house.
Berry had given birth to Castro’s child, who is now six years old. Knight was pregnant five times but was violently forced to abort the baby. DeJesus told the police that she did not think she was ever pregnant during her captivity.
