Our skin is the largest organ in our body and it’s quite possibly the only organ that we’re willing to invest in to make it appear more smooth and beautiful. However some of us neglect the proper care required on our face. A great impression can also begin with great skin, so if you’re hoping to look great in general, give your skin the best care it needs so you do not only look good everyday, but even as you grow old.
1. Face Wash
Facial wash is need to help remove excess dirt, oil and sebum on your skin. If you have normal to oily skin, you can use just about any facial products out there. But if you have sensitive or acne-prone skin, you may want to look for something that’s more suited to your skin condition. Wash twice a day and avoid washing your skin too much as it’ll only cause your skin to secrete more oils. If you insist on washing your skin all the time, get a very mild soap-free cleanser.
2. Scrub/Exfoliator
It’s important to exfoliate your skin at least two to three times a week to scrub off dry skin cells and clean up any open pores that are clogged. We swear by natural scrubs as they do a better job at removing blackheads and whiteheads, without stripping too much of the moisture off our skin.
3. Toner
Toner is an essential part of your skincare routine. Not only does it give your skin a spritz of freshness after a wash, but it also removes excess dirt on your skin and any excess soap on your skin. Use a toner twice a day, and if you have sensitive skin, opt for toners that do not contain alcohol.
4. Moisturizer
A moisturizer is what gives your skin extremely soft and supple skin. Go for something that’s lighter on your skin so it doesn’t feel too oily on your skin. If you have dry skin but don’t like weighty creams, look for something that’s very lightweight (gel-like consistency) and re-apply whenever it feels dry. Just make sure your face is clean to avoid irritation or breakouts.
5. Eye-cream
It’s important to get started with anti-aging skincare in your early 20s to prolong the rate your skin ages. Although your diet, sleeping patterns of exposure to sun may be factors too, start with a simple eye cream that you can apply every morning and evening.
6. Eye roller
Waking up early in the morning during the week can give you a serious case of the puffy eyes. Eye rollers activate the blood circulation in your under eye-bags, and some of the products you find will often come with special features like whitening extracts to minimize the darkness. Some also have moisturizing ingredients to minimize the puffiness.
7. Serum
Serum is now the new skincare staple as it’s more potent that any regular cream. Experts say that it’s concentrated with more active ingredients that can penetrate to the deeper layers of your skin, making its effect more effective. However, one serum can’t do everything, so depending on what your main problems are, look out for the right one to suit your needs.
8. Sunscreen
If no one told you, the exposure to sunlight comes with extremely harmful rays that can cause premature aging and worst of all, skin cancer. Opt for sunscreen with at least SPF30 protection. Don’t forget that even the lights in your home also emit UV rays, so you’ll need to protect your skin as often as you can.
9. Spot Gel/Cream
Everyone hates it when their skin is suddenly plagued with pimples. So always come prepared with a tube of zit treatment gel. The best would be tea tree oil as it’s the most potent zit zapping ingredients out there. If you need correction, just blend a little concealer on top of it.
10. Facial wipes
Facial wipes are major essentials, especially when you’re always on the go. Keep gentle ones in your purse and simply clean up whenever you feel like you need it.
