First off, can we just say.. LEONARDO DICAPRIO FINALLY WON HIS FIRST OSCAR!! After getting a total of six Oscar nominations, he finally, FINALLY, walked off to the stage for his coveted gold trophy this year. 😀
The 41-year-old actor took home the Oscar award for Best Actor for his role in The Revenant and instead of jumping around excitedly like we totally did, the gracious DiCaprio calmly accepted his award and used his acceptance speech to talk about global warming.
“Making The Revenant was about man’s relationship to the natural world…climate change is real,” he mentioned on stage. “It is happening right now. It is the most urgent threat facing our entire species and we need to work collectively together and stop procrastinating.” The actor concluded by saying, “I do not take this night for granted.”
It’s safe to say that his Titanic partner-in-crime and BFF Kate Winslet looked more happy about his win than he himself did. Whatever it is, congratulations Leo!! The Revenant led in the Oscar nominations this year with 12.
