Pretty sure that by now everyone knows that highlighting is one of the must-have beauty products in anyone’s makeup bag. But have you heard of #neonstrobing though?
Before you embrace the rainbow highlighter, or holographic makeup, we’re here to bring to you the wonders of neon strobing – a new highlighting technique that’s gonna be lit on your faces, honeys.
Makeup artist Dezzy Lopez (@dezzzymua), an 18-year-old from North Carolina, has been flooding his Instagram feed with photos of himself decked out in the brightest, boldest, and most out-worldly highlighting technique that we’ve seen so far. He’s called it “neon strobing” and it’s, lit. Like, literally.
Using fluorescent pink, purple and green highlighters and glitters, the makeup artist painted the pigment around his cheekbone, above the brow, on the inner corner on the eye, on the tip of the nose, chin, ears and cupid’s bow (like you would with a normal highlighter) for an electric glow.

Evidently enough, vibrant highlighters aren’t easy to come by, To be fair, highlighters that vibrant aren’t exactly easy to come by. Dezzy credits lesser known brands like the Etsy shops BeautyBarBaby Cosmetics and Moon Glimmer Cosmetics as the source of his sent from another dimension glow.
In some cases, Dezzy blended multiple shades of highlighter together, using a bold application, to get a neon glow. To be fair, in all of the makeup artist’s photos on Instagram, Dezzy has extremely glow-y skin, but the #NeonStrobing photos makes us want to try out the super lit trend as well.

Neon colors are typically associated with music festivals, spring and summer nights out, and we’re huge fans of this reimagined way of highlighting. Take a cue from Dezzy and go for a bold brow and glossy lip if you’re trying this look out! You don’t really need much of anything else when your neon glow is this on point. 😉
