The 30-year-old’s mug shoot got women all around the world falling in love. Meeks was arrested for a firearms offence but thousands of women are parting with cash to help him ‘get a fair trial’. His mom has started a fund raising website to stop him being “railroaded” at his pending trial.
Katherine Angier, Meek’s mom, has set up a GoFundMe page with a $25k target to ‘help him get a fair trial’, saying her son has no gang affiliations and was on his way to work when he was arrested.
The page has been shared 24,000 times since it was launched with over $3,500 being raised so far, mainly by anonymous donators.
She said: “He’s my son and he is so sweet. Please help him get a fair trial or else he’ll be railroaded.”
Meeks, who has previous convictions and police said he is one of the most violent criminals, was arrested for firearms offences by police targeting gang behaviour in the Californian city of Stockton.
Meeks is being held on $900,000 bail ahead of his next court appearance.
