Applying foundation is one of the most basic steps in makeup application to even out your skin tone and create a matte or dewy finish based on your preference. While the process is certainly no walk in the park and takes loads and loads of practice, thank goodness mankind has come up with tons of inventions to take care of that. Liquid foundation provides the best full coverage and most natural look but not everyone can pull it off well because application can be very tricky.
How much do you apply? What do you use to apply? There are many tools used for applying liquid foundation such as foundation brushes, stippling brushes, makeup sponges and even your own fingers but not many can do it like the pros.
Designed and created by Hollywood makeup artists Rea Ann Silva and Veronica Lorenz, this brilliant little pink egg-shaped sponge claims to give its user an effect similar to airbrushed makeup with excellent coverage as it allows foundation to spread evenly with its rounded bottom that guarantees no streak marks. Celebrities like Rachel Goodwin, Alicia Silverstone, Kim Kardashian, Lea Michelle and Emma Watson.
The great thing about the Beauty Blender is that it can be used dry or wet with all types of makeup from liquid to mineral makeup to loose powder, foundation, concealers and blushers all included. The pointed tip on the top part of the sponge is meant to be used for concealers to cover hard to reach corners like the sides of your nose and can also be used for eyeshadows.
Talk about multipurpose!
Now we all know that traditional sponges tend to soak up too much product and have to be disposed after using it for a certain period but because the BeautyBlender is made up of non latex and hypoallergenic, it won’t absorb as much and is re-usable so you save in makeup in the long run!
To clean your little sponge, you may opt to use baby shampoo or for best results use the BlenderCleanser, a soy based, lavender-scented cleanser free of dyes and skin irritants which is sold either together with the BeautyBlender or separately. This eco-friendly cleanser comes in a bottle of 150ml whose low-suds formula breaks down rapidly.
Whilst previously only available in the US, we discovered Serendipity, the official retailer of the BeautyBlender in Malaysia! The BeautyBlender costs RM77 for a pack of one or RM105 for a pack of two, which we suggest you purchase with a friend to save costs.
The BlenderCleanser costs RM75 on its own or RM132 with a single BeautyBlender.
