If you are short of time for a full fledge Yoga class, this easy pose might interest you. If you are finding motivation to start doing Yoga, this pose will help you get there. And no, you do not need to attend any classes or workshop to perfect this pose, because all you literally need is a wall, a mat and relaxation in abundance.

The pose simply requires you to put your legs straight up against a wall for about 10 to 15 minutes a day with your hands by your sides. Ensure your body is perpendicular to the wall. If you feel any discomfort laying flat, roll up a soft towel and place it under your lower back for added support.

This easy-to-do pose has been gaining a lot of attention from athletics, running enthusiasts, and even those stuck in their cubicles. You might wonder how does putting your legs up help the body at all? The answer is, it has become ever so popular because of the working wonders it does to your body which needs a bit of rejuvenation.

All you need to do now is, grab a wall and your body will be thanking you after.

Improves Digestion

When your abdomen is in such a position, your internal organs such as intestines and stomach are gently compressed due to the movement. This boosts digestion and fights constipation, according to research published in the Journal of Bodywork and Movement Therapies. When digestion and bowel movement are on track, your body becomes healthier and prevents digestion issues. This pose works well to release any discomfort caused by trapped air internally as well.

Promotes Healthy Circulation

With a lot standing and sitting involved in our daily lives, very little blood flows to the upper part of the body, resulting to weaker circulation. Due to its effect on circulation and rush of oxygen to the upper body, this pose treats those suffering from headaches and relieves migraine discomfort. If you are tired of constantly feeling lethargic, this pose can boost your energy, leaving your refreshed and energized. A healthy circulation heals the body.

Reduces Stress and Anxiety

Relaxing on your back while elevating your legs can calm your mind, while letting go of all your problems and worries. Combined with deep breathing, Viparita Karana, a.k.a. legs-up-the-wall pose, helps you to slow down, and lets your parasympathetic nervous system take over. This pose promotes complete calmness and utmost relaxation to your tired and weary body.
