Why take yogurt?

You always hear ads about the slimming benefits of yogurt, but did you know that consuming yogurt have much more benefits than something for you to take just because you need to keep slim? Well, recently I’ve been having some tummy problems and I’ve been told that yogurt helps. So I’ve tried. At first I didn’t believe but now I take it regularly to keep my inside healthy.

Why is yogurt good for you?

Maintain digestive health This is one of the most common benefit of yogurt. Yogurt is actually milk or cream that has been cultured with active live cultures. These cultures are actually “good bacteria” which is needed by your body to keep “bad bacteria” away. With healthy levels of “good bacteria”, you can prevent many types of sicknesses especially digestive problems.

Help in preventing osteoporosis (and keeping you slim!) Since yogurt comes from milk, it is also high in calcium and animal protein. With a healthy amount, your body can maintain good bone density. In addition, the animal protein can give you energy and at the same time curbing your appetite, hence the whole “slimming” selling point. Yogurt also keeps you feeling full for longer periods of time, so snacking on yogurt will actually reduce the need for you to constantly feed yourself so very often.

Discourage vaginal infections Yogurt has active live cultures, hence it actually keeps your body’s yeast levels well balanced. On top of that, studies have shown that by consuming yogurt,  you can also help prevent urinary tract infections.

The more natural the yogurt is, the better the benefit. Try to go for organic, low fat yogurt that doesn’t have trans-fat or high fructose corn syrup. Make sure to always check for the level of active live cultures on the label. The more there are, the better the benefit.

So instead of snacking on some chips, cookies or ice cream, why don’t you grab a healthy cup of yogurt instead?
