Recently, I’ve been having some issues with my skin – it’s always dry and don’t seem to have the radiant, dewy look it should have. So I did some research on the food I’ve been eating and looking at how I was eating out quite often recently, it is no wonder I have such dull skin. Of course, making sure you use the proper skincare is important too, but everything starts from the inside.
There are certain types of foods that gives your skin a little boost in order to achieve the perfect looking touchable skin. Here are some of them.
Green tea It is no wonder the Japanese seems to have the best looking skin. Dewy and translucent with a permanent blush, they always look youthful. Since green tea is one of their staple drinks, it is no wonder they look so good. Green tea has antioxidants that reduces inflammation and protect cell membranes. It has also been proven to reduce the damage of sunburns. Green tea is high in vitamin C, D and K as well as riboflavin, zinc, calcium, magnesium and iron.
Salmon I’m sure you’ve heard about how Omega-3 oil is good for pet’s fur. Well, it works just as well for our skin. Omega-3 fatty acid-rich foods will keep skin youthful and supple, however make sure not to over consume as it can also be too fatty if taken in bulk. Salmon is also rich in protein, potassium, selenium and vitamin B12.
Berries Blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, cranberries – they are all high in antioxidants and help your body manufacture collagen that makes your skin smooth and silky. They taste great although a little on costly side especially if imported. Berries are also an excellent source of vitamin C, vitamin E, riboflavin, and soluble and insoluble fibre.
Avocados I know it isn’t easy to eat this on its own, but after a while, I actually liked the taste. It’s kind of like eating dragonfruit. Not much taste to it but avocados are great for skin. It is also full of Omega-3 fatty acids as well as contain vitamin C and E, working together as an anti-aging solution.
Carrots Remember when your grandma telling you carrots are good for your eyesight? Well, I am not too sure about that, but I do know that they’re good for skin. Carrots are full of beta-carotene, which the body converts to vitamin A which is one of the main nutrient for healthy, glowing skin. Vitamin A also aids in the development of skin cells hence lack of it will result in dry, flaky skin.
There are other fresh fruits and natural food you can take to help your body self- repair naturally, but remember, most importantly you need to drink lots and lots of water. Water naturally rejuvenate skin cells and removes toxin from your body naturally. When you’re properly hydrated, you sweat more efficiently making your skin clean and clear.
Try to avoid sugary food, fried and oily food and saturated fats. These types of food will cause your skin to be unnaturally oily, cause acne and many other types of problems.
