The Japanese are all about health lately, so how are places like fast food stalls going to survive? Well, to be honest, I don’t think they can; even if Burger King decides to introduce a private music booth for customers to enjoy their own music without disturbing others. Fortunately for Subway, they have an excuse for being somewhat healthy – a man lost over 100kg in one year just by switching to a Subway diet.
Right across the street from Tokyo Station in Japan, a Subway branch has decided to take things further and build their own garden smack in the middle of the restaurant just to show customers how healthy the restaurant’s sandwiches can be. Unfortunately, they can’t grow enough to meet the demands, in fact, they can only grow about 5% and for customers who want this healthier alternative, they’ll have to pay a premium price. Well, there’s always a price to pay for healthier food, but I guess their business is already very good anyway seeing that the fresh lettuce can only supply 5% of their total demand. Nice move, I’m craving for fresh salad right now…
