As much as we would like to fit into a size 8, 10 or 12, sometimes our bodies are too ‘big-boned’ or ‘curvy’ to fit into an outfit we love. Good news for Marc Jacobs lovers because according to a tweet by Marc Jacobs CEO Robert Duffy, he may add size 18 to the brand with the current size being 16 at the moment. The reason being, “I’m a big guy 6’4” 210lbs. [It’s] not easy for me to find clothes. Of course I can have them made. I know how everyone feels. I try to diet but…We gotta do larger sizes…As soon as I get back to NY. I’m on it! It will take me about a year. But stay with us. Problem solving is a big part of our job.”
With a designer label as big (no pun intended) as Marc Jacobs considering the possibility of plus sizes, does that mean people are going to embrace curvier models in the near future? Or will skinny remain the ideal body shape? I have a love-hate relationship with my body but I really welcome the whole idea. Maybe one day we can look back and say, “Why did I ever thought I was fat? I’m beautiful just the way I am and it is my confidence that attracts people and not just the size of my clothes.”
