HauteLook, a popular online site that sells Cartier merchandise is being sued by Cartier for over USD$2 million. We can never know for sure if a third party site is carrying authentic products or not but usually if it is successful and people buy from it, it should be alright, no?
The luxury corporation Richemont that owns Cartier is suing the Los Angeles-based HauteLook according to SheFinds. Fashionista.com has the court documents claiming that the HauteLook is selling secondhand Cartier watches. Cartier feels that HauteLook is making false claims although HauteLook is said to be working directly with the luxury brand, selling new merchandise.
The issue is not whether the goods are authentic or not but whether they are brand new. Fashionista has tried to reach HauteLook for comments but they had no luck. This could create a bad reputation for HauteLook and more importantly, how the customers feel.
I’m on the fence with this situation but I hope things work out for both companies. It is never good when it comes to lawsuits whether you the one suing or the one being sued.
