It’s A Trend-gedy! Makeup Trends We’ll TOTALLY Regret Trying!

Beauty trends come and go. Sometimes, you might get caught up in a trend’s buzz and fall in love with it to the point that you’d integrate it into your beauty regimen. While there have been some fantastic beauty trends that are still going strong, you can’t help but shudder at some of the less-than-stellar ones.

It’s perfectly OK if you’re currently loving a trend. However, we can’t help but wonder if we MAY come to regret it in the near future. So, here are five beauty trends that we will most likely regret following:

Over-Blush

It hurts me to write this because I literally over-blush all the time. I don’t believe I’d ever walk outdoors without a rosy nose, cheeks, and chin to fool people into thinking I’m intoxicated (even though I’m not). Over-blushing is the icing on the cake, and it drives people insane, whether it’s on TikTok or Instagram.

It’s the current beauty craze that has us completely enslaved. It’s where the sound “Gorgeous, gorgeous girls, always over-blush. Gorgeous, gorgeous girls are always in a rush” on TikTok came from. Even while I hope this cosmetic style is here to stay, it will most likely be replaced with the minimal makeup aesthetic.

Soap Brows

We’ve seen brow trends through the decades – thin brows, shaved brows, Instagram brows, bleached brows. But there’s one brow fad that I can’t seem to get my head around: soap brows. The current trend is to emphasise your brows’ natural form by using less pomade and eyebrow pencil, but I think it looks absolutely unnatural.

Brows don’t remain in place like that unless they’re glued on. Brows should appear like brows, and this trend makes them look even more unnatural. While it is a start in the right direction to help us embrace our features and move toward less makeup, I doubt it will last.

Huge Falsies

I am a staunch supporter of false lashes, and it’s a hill I’m ready to die on. I have extremely short lashes and no mascara in the world can save it – so false lashes it is. I’ve worn a variety of brands, sizes, and styles of false lashes and can safely consider myself a fake lash connoisseur, so I’m here to inform you that huge false lashes aren’t going to stay.

Huge falsies are quite unsettling to look at now that makeup is moving towards simplicity. You virtually cannot wear huge falsies without having any sort of eye makeup on, because it just looks weird – I know, since I’ve tried it. For a more natural look, people are opting for wispier lashes, so those thick and voluminous lashes are on their way out.

Fake Beauty Marks

Beauty markings, such as moles and freckles, are a trend that no one could have predicted. It’s a natural characteristic of a person that others strive to replicate. And so, some go above and beyond to obtain those beauty marks by using eyeliner to draw moles in various regions of the face, or henna to draw small dots all over the face in the hope that the freckles seem natural – which they don’t. This beauty craze isn’t going to last, and it’s something I’ll never be able to get behind.

Blinding Highlight

Highlights were a major craze at one point in time, and people went crazy over them. Because of how bright they are, they create a wonderful shine on the cheeks that literally dazzle people. It got to the point where it was a bit overbearing, with individuals concentrating mostly on the highlight, and dragging their brush up and down their cheeks to attain that glow.

Despite the fact that it seems beautiful on camera, in real life, it merely emphasises the texture of the skin and appears unnatural. Furthermore, there would be a strange cast on the high points of your cheeks when viewed from the front, making your makeup seem entirely wrong. While I have fallen victim to this trend, I truly hope this beauty trend will die.
