“Everyone has their own dream. However, living in the real world, our dreams become smaller and lonely,” says Cookie Huang, designer at The Lonely Dream Store.
Cookie first started her New Zealand-based label in a retail store in Auckland. By late 2011, she brought her style and her career to Malaysia, and launched her first walk-in boutique in Telawi Square, Bangsar by March 2013.
Her designs are made of simple materials, mainly in black, grey and white colour. They’re deconstructed into elaborate forms, shape and layers as Cookie Huang loves the idea of being unbalance, uneven and abnormal. These designs gives her customers a chance to play around with the personal sense of style and their own personality. While many of us believe that unbalanced designs aren’t appealing, Cookie believes in the advantage that it carries – to look different on every shape and figure.
The boutique updates their featured items every week, and each design only comes in one piece. The Lonely Dream Store has also introduced several house brands like REPLAY by COOKIE H., that originated from Auckland, New Zealand, jewelry brand STAR DUST, and various designers brands from the United Kingdom, Korea, New York, Singapore, Hong Kong and Indonesia.

The designs in the Lonely Dream Store is certainly impressive. Each design does not only boast its unique design, it feels like it can also bring out the wearer’s style and mood. The interior of the store is mysterious. The walls are painted black, with a touch of soft yellow lighting that gives it an air of unpredictability.
