Fashion Designer Replaces Runway Models With Role Models

During New York Fashion Week in February, women’s fashion designer Carrie Hammer made history by sending out a group of working class, professional women to walk in her show.

These women included lawyers, teachers, doctors and a range of other young professionals. Indeed, the energetic and progressive Carrie lined her runway with role models instead of conventional runway models.

One of her role models particularly stood out among the rest. Dr. Danielle Sheypuk, a clinical psychologist, was the last person sent out on the runway. Danielle and her wheelchair moved those in attendance, with her unparalleled confidence and courage.

Danielle’s eagerness to expose both her beauty and disability is in line with Carrie’s vision of fashion, in which she believes the idea of traditional beauty, which has been moulded by the general society, is outdated and unrealistic.

Her customised line of women’s clothing, named after herself, is made to fit the women who wear them, and not the other way around.

Together, Carrie and Danielle make a relentless team of passionate game changers who have been actively sharing their vision and celebration of beauty.
