Women have always wondered whether Viagra would have the same effects on us as they do on men. Researchers found out that it doesn’t contribute to your libido, but it does actually help with the severity of your menstrual cramps.

Researchers from Penn State College of Medicine, together with researchers at Nova Gradiska General Hospital in Croatia, claimed that women suffering from moderate to severe menstrual cramps can find relief in a class of erectile dysfunction drugs – Viagra. Sildenafil citrate, or commonly known as Viagra, may help with pelvic pain as it can dilate the blood vessels.

Researchers have looked at administering sildenafil citrate vaginally, but it has not been tried to treat primary dysmenorrhea (PD).

Women between ages 18 to 35 suffering from moderate to severe PD were recruited by researchers to see if sildenafil citrate helps with PD. 29 women were screen for the study, while 25 were randomized to receive either sildenafil or a placebo drug. Patients rated their pain over four consecutive hours. Sildenafil citrate administered vaginally alleviates acute menstrual pain with no reported side effects.

Researchers found that the drug would alleviate pain, but will also increase blood flow. However, doctors have yet to determine how and why sildenafil is able to alleviate pain.

Will you ladies by trying out some Viagra to eliminate the pain? Or will you stick to the regular Ponstan?
