A loving father of four children was diagnosed with cancer and his doctors told him that he only had months to live. After being given this circumstance, the 62-year old had one last wish and all he wanted to do was to walk his daughters down the aisle.
Fred Evans and his wife, Karla, have three daughters and a son. Two out of the three daughters did not have plans about getting married in the near future and their father had always wished to walk them down the aisle on their wedding day. However, with the cancer, he was worried that he might not have the time to wait for that day to come.
Therefore, he joined forces with his eldest daughter to plan a surprise ceremony for his two other daughters, Gracie and Kate, in order to fulfil his last wish.
After escorting his two beautiful girls down the aisle, Fred Evans then announced that he had “one more bride”. He told his wife that he wanted to renew their vows and presented her with a bouquet of flowers. They walked down the aisle, exchanged their vows and also sealed a kiss.
Mrs. Evans’ brother officiated the special family ceremony and all of them promised to continue loving each other till death do them part.
Sadly, Fred Evans lost his battle to cancer on July 25th, 2013.
The whole ceremony was photographed by Matt and Julie Norine from the charity organisation, Fotolanthrophy, and it was held in the Watermark Community Church in Dallas, Texas. The photographers penned down their thoughts about the heart-breaking ceremony:
“As a daddy, Fred wants to make sure he got the opportunity to walk his other two daughters down the aisle and give them away. Their oldest daughter Martha helped her mom and dad plan a special ceremony to do just that.”
“They told the girls Fred had something special planned for their mom, and gave them each a different time to arrive at the chapel […] When the girls arrived, their dad greeted them wearing a tuxedo. They each shared a special, quiet moment alone with their dad in the foyer of the chapel. He gave them each a bouquet and told them just in case he would not be there the day they get married, he wanted to walk down the aisle and give them his blessing.”
“The girls had no idea that Fred had this planned, and the look on their face when they started to realize what he was doing was priceless.”
