After getting everyone excited about the the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C, Apple creates a new wave of enthusiasm for its upcoming products again.
Apple CEO Tim Cook has officially announced the latest version of its iPad in San Francisco. The thinner and lighter iPad Air featuring a design that is reminiscent to the iPad Mini released last year and has a significantly smaller bezel which shrinks the tablet down without compromising its screen size. Weighing only one pound, the iPad Air is 20 percent thinner and 28 percent lighter than the current fourth-generation iPad.
The 9.7-inch screen iPad Air will pack the same A7 processing chip that is in the iPhone 5S, making it 72 times faster than the original iPad and has a 64-bit desktop architecture. Additionally, it comes with a 5-megapixel camera, 1080 HD video and maintains the 9.7-inch Retina display.
Apple also announced that the iPad Air will replace the full-sized iPad, but the iPad 2 will still be made available. The iPad Air comes in silver or space grey and goes on sale starting November 1st in the United States retailing for US$499 for a 16 GB model.
