There are many kinds of eaters in this world, but two of the most common are – people eat too much, and  people who barely eat anything.

Why is that? One of the rules in healthy eating is portion control. Having an average amount of food can lead you to a healthy eating lifestyle. One of the most important parts of controlling your weight is to control your portion. Here are a few pointers to help you don’t overeat or under-eat.

Eating Right
Portion control means having a balanced diet by monitoring the amount of food we eat. Unfortunately, many of us neglect the importance of practicing portion control and assume that portion control is only for those are struggling to lose weight or on a diet. Always, start by dividing your plate into quarters and filling up according to the different dishes. Bear in mind that you’re not just eating for to fill your tummy but you need to obtain the right nutrients from the food you eat.

Don’t Over-Eating
We all tend to overeat during buffets! Lots of us think that “we paid for it, and we must eat what we paid for!” when they’re at a buffet, and that slowly becomes an eating pattern that slowly takes over you. Eat slowly, chew your food well, and pause between bites for at least 20 minutes. If you eat very fast, you’ll eat more.

Keep Things Balanced
Do refer to the food pyramid to have a look at what you need to fill your body up with the right nutrients. Some bodies do not require as much carbohydrates, some people need a higher amount of sugar than everyone else. Have a talk with a nutritionist to figure out the best food plan for you and you can start stocking up on the right stuff!

More Water Please
No matter how balanced your diet may be, you may not see much results if you don’t drink enough water. Water rids your body of all the toxins and it helps you stay hydrated. Drink a minimum of 8 cups of water per day and you should at least see some mild results.
