After lending his voice to Beauty and the Beast’s Lumiere, Ewan McGregor is once more entering the world of Disney’s live-action remakes. The actor is currently in talks to star as Christopher Robin, the beloved young boy from Winnie The Pooh, all-grown-up and disillusioned.
Directed by Marc Forster and penned by Hidden Figures’ Allison Schroeder, it essentially acts as a live-action sequel to The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (1977) and will provide a new spin on A.A. Milne’s classic story.
Though the original Winnie the Pooh cartoons featured colourful hand-drawn animation, Disney has been opting for 3D CGI animation in its live-action remakes.
Well, you know it’s gonna be good. Gotta hand it to Pixar and Disney for making our CGI dreams come true, ’cause we honestly didn’t expect their recent live action remake would resemble the original animation movie so much, that they even made the plates fly and dance in Beauty and the Beast. The scenes looked extremely real, okay. We were visually satisfied.
The film sees a grown-up Christopher Robin, a man who has lost the sense of wonder and imagination that once fuelled his adventures in the Hundred Acre Wood. Thankfully, his furry friends once more reenter Robin’s life to help bring it all back. Didn’t know Obi-Wan Kenobi from Star Wars had a BFF named Pooh!
This project will go up against Fox Searchlight’s own drama Goodbye Christopher Robin, focusing on the real-life story of A.A. Milne, starring Margot Robbie and Domhnall Gleeson.
The movie is still in its early stages, so there’s no release date yet. Ewan McGregor is the first cast member of the movie to be announced, and we don’t even know how the franchise will portray Winnie and the other animal leads. Watch this space for news update!
