Second time’s the charm?
HIMYM devoted fans, if like us, you were left disappointed with how the final season unveiled after waiting religiously for nine long years. Since it wasn’t so legendary, looks like they’re making an effort to redeem themselves for the whole unfinished business.
Reportedly, a spinoff for smash comedy How I Met Your Mother is currently in the works but this time around, it’s going to be told from the mother’s perspective, Tracy Mosby. Aptly titled How I Met Your Father, the show will have a female lead which follows a similar storyline like its predecessor’s premise. (Will she be as tedious as her future husband, or will she actually tell the story without going around the bushes this time?)
Shortly after the franchise ended, there was a pilot called How I Met Your Dad, written by HIMYM executive producers Carter Bays and Craig Thomas in 2014.
Unfortunately, the pilot failed to get picked up to series by CBS and now the whole concept is getting a rewrite from This Is Us co-executive producers, Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, who might just have the perfect touch for the job. Carter and Craig will remain as the executive producers, but their involvement is yet to be known.
Given fans’ reaction to HIMYM’s ending, the new series might want to end on a slightly different note. There is no word on if the original series cast members, Josh Radnor, Cobie Smulders, Jason Segel, Alyson Hannigan, and Neil Patrick Harris will make an appearance on the series, but we’re sure fans wouldn’t mind!
How will the story unfold? Will this be as legendary? We can’t wait to find out! In the meantime, you can watch HIMYM’s best blooper moments below 😋
