Despite what they say, when it comes to your beauty goodies, sharing is not caring. In fact, sharing can be really gross and if you want to avoid contracting any sort of nasty germs and diseases, you should really keep these three products to yourself. It doesn’t matter if it’s your mother, sister or bestie, you really shouldn’t be sharing:

1. Moisturizer
It shouldn’t come as a surprise that dipping your fingers into a pot of your favourite moisturiser is a recipe for germs. So, you really shouldn’t make it worse by introducing a new set of germy hands as open jars are already more prone to being contaminated because don’t have airtight packaging.

Tip: Instead of using fingers, why not use a disposable flat wooden stick to scoop a desired amount of moisturiser.

2. Mascara
The eyelids and lashes are a favourite spot for bacteria, so even if you BFF’s eyes look completely okay, it doesn’t mean you should share your mascara. You can contract all sorts of nasty viruses that could cause pink eye, herpes and the list goes on. So, when it comes to mascara – just don’t share!

Tip: Keep a washed, clean and sterilised brush wand in your makeup drawer, just in case your bestie or sister runs out of mascara. They can use yours, but just not with the same brush.

3. Makeup Sponge
Makeup sponges are probably one that tops the list. Because makeup sponges are often wet, they create the perfect breeding environment for yeast and bacteria. This can lead to nasty fungal infections, so make sure you don’t share and also wash it weekly. If you really use it that often, then maybe once every two days.

Tip: We don’t have a tip for this except for don’t share! Or get a spare makeup sponge.
