Want Healthier Skin? Here’s What You Should Eat

Healthy skin doesn’t only come from award-winning beauty products. In fact, a lot of the foods you have stocked up in your pantry is known to benefit your skin than most products without causing any harsh side effects. Here’s a list of ten foods that not only reverse your skin problems, but also promotes healthy, luminous skin!

1. Honey
If you suffer from dry or oily skin, use honey as part of your skin regimen as it locks moisture and retains elasticity in your skin without drying it out. Furthermore, honey is a natural antioxidant, so taking it orally can protect the skin from sun damage and even premature wrinkling!

2. Avocado
Avocado doesn’t only make make a tasty creamy dip, but large amounts of sterolins in avocado helps reduce the appearance of age spots, scars and sun damage. If you suffer from dry skin, the protein in avocado can also heal dry skin and eczema. Being a great moisturizer, avocado can also replenish collagen in the skin without clogging pores!

3. Walnuts
Walnuts are high in omega-3 essential fatty acids that are important for improving the skin’s elasticity. Snacking on a handful a day can improve your complexion, or if you have some spare ground walnut shells, make a  natural exfoliant out of it.

4. Sunflower Seeds
We all know Vitamin E is an important for the skin to stay moisturized and supple. A handful of sunflower seeds is not only good for your body, but it does a lot in protecting the top layers of your body including your face, lips, and other dry parts of your skin.

5. Carrots
We associate carrots with good eyesight. But the high Vitamin A contents of helps prevent overproduction of cells in the skin’s outer layer. Overproduction of cells is what causes dead cells and sebum to clog up your pores, causing blackheads, pimples and severe acne.

6. Dark Chocolate
Instead of just being a healthier option for chocoholics, dark chocolate is rich in flavanods, an antioxidant that’s great for the skin as it reduces roughness and protects against sun damage. Furthermore, dark chocolate has also been known to improve skin luminosity and temporarily reduce skin puffiness.

7. Oatmeal
Having rough oatmeal daily retains the vitamins in your body on top of just breaking body fat. It keeps your blood sugar levels in control to increase the level of androgens in your body. Androgens are hormones that keep your wrinkles at bay. Oatmeal can also heal the skin from irritation and redness, so if you suffer from any sunburns or redness, calm your skin down by making an oatmeal paste and massage on your skin.

8. Yogurt
Protein in dairy helps food become firmer, but the fats in milk has also been known to cause breakouts. Opt for yogurt instead as it helps skin become firmer and more resistant to lines. A single serve of low-fat yogurt can promote smoother skin.

9. Green Tea
Got puffy eyes, or is your face puffier than usual? Hot green tea is known to release catechins, an antioxidant that has anti-inflammatory properties. Green tea has also been known to fight redness and inflammation too. Furthermore, drinking two to six cups of green tea can also reverse the effects of sun damage, so start chugging it down after a sun tan!

10. Citrus Fruits
Vitamin C acts as an antioxidant in the body, protecting it from any damage by free-radicals. Other than that, it’s been known to cure damaged skin from dryness or even heat. If you suffer from lots of pigmentation, Vitamin C helps absorb UV rays and evens out the skin tone, especially the ones in freckles and sun spots.
